How to play

• Unscramble each word. Tap the loose letters to drop them into the boxes. Tap a letter you have placed to take it straight back — you can never get stuck. A hardware keyboard works too.
• Watch the circles. Two letters in every answer are ringed. Solve all the words and those letters drop into the tray at the foot of the page.
• Unscramble the answer. The circled letters spell the answer to the day's riddle. That is the whole puzzle.
• A new edition every day. Columnist is four short words with the riddle in plain sight. Publisher is six, thrown harder. Editor is eight, and keeps the riddle back until the last word falls.
